Never Have A Shot Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Never Have A Shot

from high school years up to now
I have always wore the crown
feet planted on the ground
head raised high, you should know
that with pride, i'm never low
that's my reality
a few hate me and some love me
living life for no one but me

Can't nobody do like this
Check how I rock this ish
yep, i'm owning it
in control of me and loving it
People talking about what I did
Got alot of love for my public
I come first
don't you forget the deal
I ranked first in place, yeah

I like when the employer cut the checks
you can expect to see me up in the malls
once all them bills are paid
get some shoes, try on some clothes
in the fitting room stall
it's friday night and i'm going to party
just drink and hang with a couple friends
Best night of my life on the dance floor
all eyes on me, a potential checking me out
i told him, don't be fooled by the fact that i'm hot
you won't, you won't, ever have a shot
you thinking i'm interested, and, i'm not
no matter what you do, I'll never be impressed
