Neither One Of Us Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Neither One Of Us

Tears fall like raindrops
life's gone when the heart stops
shinning through the mountain of clouds
leaving a faint shadow of the sun
Set at a temperature that kept us warm
Candle burned out and is now burning me
neither one of us
where's the effort
if we don't try?
Neither one of us
have valued paradise
You nor I
Plants that ain't watered do not grow
Flowers in the garden need a little care
How if it ain't taught in order to know
the many truths life is to teach
I look for you and you're not there
Just the two of us
Heard the winds howl
It screamed so loud
But no one cared enough
Not one concern for love
As the branch of a tree
Scratches against the window
don't tell me
Neither one of us,
How do neither one of us
Have a heart to care?
Why didn't we just hold tight
How could we have let the cold
Put out the fire
Which once had burned so bright
