My Yellow Moon Poem by Judy Jones

My Yellow Moon

Rating: 5.0

The moon is high
The day has long said its last goodbye
I am a locomotive
coming in for the day's last stop
But my brakes do not work
Instead my speed begins to gain
I begin to shudder, I begin to shake
My thoughts are bouncing back and forth
Are my passengers in danger?
Will I harm those around me?
Will I end up in a pile of ashes?

But then a brightness catches my eye
The moon's vastness winks at me
I close my eyes and take a swollow
My speed begins to ease
I look up and take another swollow
The shaking has calmed
I take a deep breath
and ease myself into a steady stop
I settle into the darkness
Will it be there to guide me tomorrow?
Through another day
Or maybe possibly..
It might swollow me.
