My Child Poem by Edwina Reizer

My Child

Let me rock you as if in a cradle.
But let the cradle be my arms.
Let me soothe your furrowed brow
and smile upon your charms.
Let me sing you a lullaby
and watch you fall asleep.
Let me listen to your sleeping sound
and hold you close to me.
Let me never forget this moment
and keep it alive in my memory.

My child, my child you'll grow too fast
and never will there be
a time to rock you in my arms again
or cradle you close to me.
