My Big Moment Poem by Rhiannon Parvin

My Big Moment

You feel the butterflies,
You get the nervous sweats,
Your palms are like mini oceans,
As you hear your introduction.

The moment comes,
And your name is called,
You take a deep breath and walk out.
You feel all of the eyes follow you across the stage.

The cheers go up,
You hear your mom's voice,
As if she's right there,
The sound of her voice,
Slaps you out of your daze.

You walk to the microphone,
Your knees sound like finger cymbals,
You can hear them hammering together.
The music starts,
And you can feel the rousing, stimulating beat,
Oscillating through your body.

You go through the performance,
Every note so alluring, so captivating,
Your voice is so authoritative,
You dominate the stage like you're Mariah Carey,
You can only conceptualize,
The notes crashing into the ear drums of the crowd.

You finally terminate the last note,
You look out into the crowd,
You begin to walk off the stage,
When all of a sudden,
It's like a bomb exploded in the auditorium.

The crowd's on their feet,
Applauding like there's no tomorrow,
Like they've never heard anything like it.

As you walk the rest of the way off the stage,
You must emanate happiness,
Your mother walks up and she's ecstatic.
It then hits you like a thousand bricks,
Like a light bulb turning on,
You did it,
You sang your heart out,
And you rocked the stage.
You have achieved you life-long dream!
You ROCKED your big moment!
