Rhiannon Parvin Poems

I'd rather be the sun,
Warm and inviting,
Making everybody happy.

What is the true
meaning of poetry?
Is it rhyming
words together?
...

I am feeling free,
I have broken down the iron bars,
Of the jail cell with Lil Wayne.
I have taken the whippings,
...

When you are little,
They never tell you how difficult life gets,
They don't tell you that losing someone,
Near and dear to your heart,
...

I am going to draw a picture…
A picture with a twist…
I’ll draw it with a razor blade…
I’ll draw it on my wrist…
...

You feel the butterflies,
You get the nervous sweats,
Your palms are like mini oceans,
As you hear your introduction.
...

Do you ever get that feeling?
The one that gives you the chills,
That heeby-jeeby feeling?

I'D Rather

I'd rather be the sun,
Warm and inviting,
Making everybody happy.

I'd be a sun,
Bringing light,
To the lives of citizens.

I'd rather let someone else,
Take the job of being the moon.
It doesn't light the way for those,
Who walk along the beach.

The moon creates shadows,
Giving small children nightmares.
Always making people's skin crawl.

The sun is seen,
Everywhere you go,
You can count on the sun,
Being there, always shining.

I'd rather be the sun.
The sun is viewed by the whole world.
Appreciated by everyone,
And everywhere.
Letting little children see no rain,
Bringing warmth on a cold day.

The sun is a promise,
One to always be there,
Bringing hope.
If you can see the sun,
You can feel fuzzy and warm inside.

I'd rather be the sun,
Free and bright,
Making the possibility of,
A better day accessible to all.
