Moth Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Moth

Moth

Oh father
Oh father
Oh father

They tell me I’m like you
I hate it
On the run I take off that necklace you gave me
Unaware, ignorant
Pulling down I choke me

Oh father
Oh father
Oh father

I hate you as water hates fire
I hate you as the fog hates the sun
I hate you as bat hates tough sunshine

But father
I’m a moth
You are light
Regardless of burning

Come to you
Come to you
Come to you

Let me burn in your light
Let me burn in your light
Let me burn in your light

Oh father I love you
Let me walk in your path
Give me chance to be you
