More Fuss Than Substance Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

More Fuss Than Substance

Everywhere!
There is more fuss than substance.
More fizzle than pop.
And more bark than bite.
Uniting rumor mongers munching,
On innuendos to verify.
Leaving few who grow older gracefully.
Preferring that to be done,
By those much younger but more mature.
Enduring the adults,
Groaning to prove they remain to own...
And live,
The best of their petty lives possible.

Everywhere!
Appears no limits,
To unrestricted mental illness.
Explained away to lay the blame,
On the high price of education.
But not the cost of decadence.
Paid each day to market decay.

More laws are created by the lawless,
Breaking rules they make to disobey.
And yet,
The few expected to correct the mess...
Have little energy left to validate,
Which days they choose to select...
Insanity instead of struggling to pretend,
Remaining sane for an entire week...
Is much more than their minds,
Will allow them to commit and give.
