Mistakes Of The Past Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Mistakes Of The Past

We often think, if we could change the past,
We would be happy, content, no regrets.
But changing past mistakes, only opens the door,
For new and greater hurt, no more, less.

How often we think, we learned the lesson,
That each mistake has taught,
Only to repeat them again, and again.
At which point is the lesson for naught?

How many times must we go through this chaos?
Until we learn, to alter old patterns of hurt?
Why continue to make the same regrets,
As each mistake repeated is sure to bring?

When do we see through lies, and deceit?
To the truth that lies within?
Are we ever to say, enough? !
This is where my life will begin?
