Missing The Friendly Crow Poem by Indira Renganathan

Missing The Friendly Crow

Rating: 5.0

A crow became very friendly with our family
Daily he kept crowing timely..means' come all quickly'

We all used to assemble in answer to his crowing
Happily he'd go for two rounds of flying

We used to stand in silent watching keenly
Not knowing to act more than that justly

He'd look side to side with open beaks
Flapping fastly crowing like thus in repeats

We would stand in silence thinking deeply
Perhaps he was an expellee from his community

Whatever it be one day I asked him 'what do you want'
Everyone started asking the crow 'what do you want'

A short silent while later he upped his neck-stance
Perhaps to reply he thought of a majestic stance

Suddenly his answer sprang forth in different tones
Different phrases in lower and higher octaves

Wondering wide eyed I applauded the crow's singing
In appreciation with many joyous clappings

Everyone followed me clapping excited so much
And we saw his joy growing boundless too much

We were happy, he was happy, a happy moment indeed
With happy flappings he bade us bye and quickly fled

Ho, that was all. With that everything ended. He's gone
Till today not returning to sing for us his song

Perhaps he has gone to concert at different places
As birds do change their abodes to different places

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Note: 'Crows make a variety of sounds, including caws, croaks, and clicks. Their most common call is a loud, harsh 'caw' sound. They also make a variety of other noises such as a 'ca-ca-ca' or 'caw-caw-caw' sound, as well as a 'kraa' or 'kronk' noise. Each crow's song is particular to its social group' 'Crow voices are complicated. Altogether, crows may use 30 sound elements in different combinations, and one of the most intriguing is their song. Unlike many birds, crows don't sing loudly to attract mates from a distance. Instead, they sing softly — and at close range — during courtship, with a mix of soft cooing, rattles, growls, bowing movements, and mutual nuzzling.'--Taken from the internet

Lovely poem Indira, crow family are very intelligent, I fed two rooks at my local lake last winter. They knew when I came and followed me swooping from tree to tree until I fed them.
