Memoir Of Pain Poem by Seth Hargett

Memoir Of Pain

Rating: 5.0

Laid back but dying
To myself, I'm lying
It'll all be okay
It'll end one day
A smile on my face
Pain I want to erase
Carry a rifle in a foreign land
Let my blood flow through the sand
Memories of home
And people I'd known
Flow through my mind
Trapped in a moment of time
Gunfire and yelling
The artillery shelling
The kick of my rifle
And the screams of the lives that I stifle
Take me away
From this hell today
Kill all the nightmares
That at night, come to play
Hold me, I'm afraid
Of the war that I braved
I came home, that's a fact
But my soul, my love, it died in Iraq
