Love’s Test Poem by Max Jason Wallace

It is easy to be In Love, when t’is all brand new!
When you’ve met the one that is simply perfect,
And so completely compliments all that is you!
The way you finish each other’s thoughts,
And laugh at the same, silly notions.

But the true test for Love, is to stand “The Test of Time.”
When the seemingly, insignificant, small peeves of irritation,
Slowly stack to a loathsome mound of inescapable aggravation,
When the flaws, that were so obvious, to everyone but you,
Have revealed their many colors, shades, tints and not so subtle hues,

When your love no longer is capable of reading your thoughts,
And yet, as you speak, interruptions are continuously fought,
When you find yourself in deep reflection and ceaseless wonder,
How could something so seemingly right, go so woefully under?
T’is then you realize, that it was something you’ve known all along.

So next time you are with your love, standing face to face,
You can say with utter conviction, strength and amazing grace,
There is something my dear, to you that I feel compelled to proclaim,
And it is more so true now, than on any other day!
