You broke through my defenses
You broke straight into my heart
Before I knew it, you had my heart in the palm of your hands
Right from the start I fell in love
But you already had someone else and didn't want anyone new

My mind kept saying choose me why won't you choose me now
My heart kept saying be mine I want you to be mine
My mind kept saying love me why won't you love me
My heart kept saying be with me All I want you to do is be with me

My heart is breaking into millions of pieces
I feel like I'm dying on the inside
I keep trying to keep my feelings under control
I don't wnat to do anything to lose you
Even though you keep choosing others over me

My mind keeps saying choose me why won't you choose me now
My heart keeps saying be mine why won't you be mine
My mind keeps saying love me why won't you love me
My heart keeps saying stay with me why won't you stay

Even though you broke through all my defenses
And I still know you'll always be there
But not as my lover, but as my friend

Our friendship will always be strong
No matter what may come along

My mind is saying choose me but I know you won't
My mind is saying be mine but in a way you already are
My heart is saying love me but you already do
My heart is saying stay with me but I know you will

All I want is for you to be happy
All I care about is you finding love

My mind now says be free please be free
My heart now says be happy please be happy
My mind now says find love please find love
My heart now says I love you and I know you love me too.

This is a song I wrote when I finally gave up what I couldn't have. He was everything I have ever wanted but instead of having him how I wanted he has become like a brother to me. He is one of the only two people in the world that I would entrust my life to.
