Love Is Love Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Love Is Love

There is no greater expression in this world
than to have love and be loved
no matter whom the recipient is

Love is free, it comes without a price tag
Love knows no limits and has no boundaries
whatever you were taught of love raises a flag

So what if it's abnormal, odd or queer
you'll continue to look with a bitter sneer

A rainbow appears after every storm
let's see this as a way to reform
Instead you wish for dark cloudy skies
Piercing them with your menacing eyes

No amount of hate will replace
What they have come to embrace
every day, every night, every minute
you hold this burden within your spirit

who are you to deprive them of the joy?
the Joy that have our hearts sparked with a flow of intense passion for love to endure
Have you forgotten their no less human than you are?
and as such, we all yearn to be loved and accepted
so the need isn't as bizarre or even below par

allow the man to love a man without embarrassment
and a woman to love a woman with the same comparison
lay to rest what you detest
and let love flow generously

love is one of the greatest gifts a human can receive
One of the only sensations that will make us believe

so just accept people for who they are
and humanity will travel a little far
