Love At First Sight Poem by Paul Hartal

Love At First Sight

Rating: 5.0

They fell in love at first sight.
But that was years ago.
Now they live separate lives,
although they remained friends.

"I still don't understand
why you divorced me",
he told her once over a cup of coffee.

She looked at him for a while
with a painful smile.
"You never learned to love me",
she said.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Although we are born with the potential for love, we should not take the gift of love for granted. We often fail to realise that love is a learned process.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Chinedu Dike 28 September 2014

Love at first sight is usually infatuation with the EXTERNALS. It is more often than not based on looks and sexual magnetism, ones achievements and personality... Whenever qualities such as, mutual respect and love, understanding, sense of fair play, compatibility, companionship, among others are jettisoned for glamour, the relationship is doomed from the start. A beautiful story well rendered. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
