Lost Hours Of Sleep Poem by Nicole Silvia

Lost Hours Of Sleep

Screeching night!
Leave me be!
Leave me to my misery
No more pillows soaked in tears
Nor sweat drenched sheets of fears
Oppressive night!
You plague me still!
Instead of warmth
You send me chill
You leave me gasping sand paper air
Alone
So alone
With none who care
Return to me those missing hours
Bring me peace!
Amongst the withering flowers

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I have many friends who complain of insomnia, but I love sleep, so I feel I could never relate. I keep a journal by my bed. One night I was looking through it and realized that I DO indeed suffer from lost sleep quite often, because so many entries were at wee morning hours where I had to write because I could not rest. This was my reaction to this discovery.
