Alcoholic Lover Poem by Nicole Silvia

Alcoholic Lover

My darling
Who turned his back while his sickness grew
My heart bled out
But what could I do?
You hadn't paid a bill
Nor looked me in the eye
There was nothing left
But our dreaded, gut wrenching good bye
My eyes swollen with tears
Held such a shimmer
As the light in yours
Grew dimmer and dimmer
I wailed
I moaned
I tightened like a snake
How much more heartache could I take?
Though I cried nightly
I could never regret
You loved me so dearly
Something I'll never forget
You burned me candles
You scented our bath
You held me to your chest
You bulldozed your path
I loved you whole heartedly
With a deep raw passion
You penetrated my heart
And the walls came crashin
You showed me love
How to be held in strong arms
Real love which turns to agony
But never really harms
Because without knowing you
I wouldn't know loves kiss
Nor would I have these memories to miss
