Look Up! Poem by Corinne Watt

Look Up!

View this grey and stricken land
it's the landscape of my heart.
Sense the dark impending clouds
and the cold tears they impart.
Dirty sheep fading into the brown
as they wander in muddy streams
in amongst the sleeping cattle and tractors
rusting like my dreams.
Hard comfortless rock and hairy shrubs
situations beyond my belief.
Only thinking of black and lost railway
track my eyes were not seeking relief.
But look up!

More power than the pylons which stretch
beyond and past the barbed wire
my sheepish dreams and desires
I tell you, look higher!
Come lose yourself in the mountain
foot knee neck high in pure snow.
Your Redeemer he lives on this mountain
Your Shepherd He calls you to go.
Grey or stricken cold dark impending
situations muddy comfortless and hard.
Come now - take His hand
come now leave this land.
look up little lamb - look up!
