Look Around Poem by Mark Heathcote

Look Around

The day is a starburst, and a table is laid for a feast.
Look around; there are insects, birds, and beasts.
Look around. Can you see the clouds on the horizon?
Making all kinds of magic—no contrivance

Everything is angelic, even the falling rain.
Your glass isn't empty; it's full of champagne.
Your life is an arrow; it's an evening rainbow.
It doesn't have far to go before you lie, Akimbo.

And settle into dust. Isn't it time we coexist?
The day is a starburst, and a table is laid for a feast.
The banquet is enough for all, I'm sure
There is no need to be greedy or hurtfully immature.

Look around; let us be smart
Look around; there is enough to feed your heart.
Look around; there is enough to feed your soul.
Look around; there is enough for everyone, I'm told.

There's a balance to all things, so pass the salt.
Let's eat like we're all equal, brother and sister.
Let's watch a new horizon; let's dance and somersault.
When the sun sinks, let's be in a divine togetherness together.

When the dust settles, isn't it time we learned to coexist?
Discount the need for anyone abhorrent victor.
Let us all roll in this ambrosial aroma, not dogma.
Let us wake up and not fall into a coma.

Look, let us look around. Let us be smart
Look around; there is enough to feed your heart.
Look around; there is enough to feed your soul.
Look around; there is enough for everyone, I'm told.
