Long Poem by Shruti Goswami

Long

The exhaustion sets in
A no loss no win
As I have been made to believe
The only source of sustenance
Has been
Some self worth and respect
When every day I begin
To doubt love
Or the notion of it
The feelings than envelope
When the motion sets in
To neither believe
Or try to relieve
This mind
Of this rigmarole
That sets in
As I set out
For a routine sojourn.
And on the streets
In a flash I set my eyes
On you
And skip some heartbeats
I do not know what it is
But I beat a hasty retreat
Into a prosaic journey
And I weep
For what could have been
And the life that I lead
And get absorbed
Slowly but surely
Not for a life I long for
With you
But one that I had
For long
A life without you.
