Little Things Poem by Eunice Masumbuko

Little Things

There is that one person whom you hate loving but still do
That one song that irritates you but you still sing it
That one place that gives you creeps but you still visit
That one pair of jeans that's too tight but you still wear

There is always that one feeling towards things
And those little things matter a lot

The term LITTLE THINGS is disarming because they loom so large in your imagination. Your relationship with each of these is complex not simple. The person you both love and hate - it's like Catullus's poem to his beloved Cynthia which ends I LOVE YOU - I HATE YOU. And both emotions are simultaneous! I couldn't get the Beatles song ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE out of my head. But obviously I needed both its simplicity and purity. And so it goes. These things insinuate themselves into our consciousness because they're so inconspicuous, and then they expand and were overwhelmed.

After a poem of witness ('Where Was The World When They Died? ') and one ('My Reflection') about her lovely image in the mirror as a reflection of God love, Eunice has posted her 3rd poem. This is another picture of her: a miniature painting, rich in colour and scent. Only a few lines, but they well describe not only the poet's attitude towards life, but also her friends's attitude.. young people's attitude in her surroundings and -furthermore- in a global dimension.. It is a fresh description, where words dance gently.. A pleasure to read Thank you so much, Eunice, for sharing your poetry!
