Little by little
darling little by little
we shared our laughter
in pubs dizzy and dark
while the night sky
wandered high above
we smelled cheap and wonderful
over a glass of cold whiskey
along many a lonely evening
Little by little
we flew into the horizon
of a million bubbles
of joy and sorrow
Little by little
the fields turned green and yellow
and our friendships found
new tomorrow
Little by little
we drove into the darkness
beneath the neon signs
drunk and in love
Little by little
our hands turned cold
our head felt light
and our footsteps unsure
and little by little
our love fell by the sideways
and little by little
we moved on
into other evenings
with other people
and little by little
we forgot each other
