Though centered around limericks, this piece exhibits the bedevilling truth of poesy's predicament. Now-a-days, only simplistic poetry is extolled, rendering linguistic splendour unnecessary. Poetry is not just a rhyme or verse, not a mere hymn too: it is the amalgamation of semantic acme and expression.

Sadly, I have been pooh-poohed by my own people for, as they say, 'wasting time' on writing poetry! Particulaly, my efforts at writing poetry in English, rather than my mother tongue, are oftn laughed at. But thanks to poetry, I live on, as I engage with them, either writing or reading. Poetry is the culmination of the yearnings of the heart, no matter whether anyone reads them or not.
