Light Poem by Bre Nicole

Light

Rating: 4.0

A light shined on a sea of darkness
On a girl who feared that she had turned heartless.
An unsuspecting victim whose light had been taken
by selfish creatures whose kindness was forsaken.
They showed no remorse for the crimes they committed.
Their only aim was to make sure they benefited.

But for this girl things have turned around
because a lifeguard came before she drowned.
A saving grace that gave her new ambition
that she did not have to remain in this horrible condition.

He complimented her and she felt an immediate connection.
Then he told her goodbye, but they walked in the same direction.
A face she had seen before but did not quite recognize
until the next class in class she got a surprise.

The mystery man was there to her dismay
in discrete math just two seats away.
A few weeks later and their conversations became constant,
and for the first time in a while she finally felt wanted.

She learned all about him and was immediately awed.
He spoke of his adventures and his relationship with God.
But what she loved the most was something he learned from his mom.
And those were his dance moves; they were the bomb.

A spark had emerged in a previously unlit place,
and now she was hooked on that mustached-face.
The girl in the shadows has found her light,
and she is finally hopeful that she will be alright.
