A year has gone by and I'm finally free.
I realize now that you never loved me.
We spent so much time together until every day'd end,
but to everyone else I was only a friend.
You used me at a time when you knew I was weak.
Feelings and our future were topics on which we did not speak.
When I finally gained the courage to let my heart pour
You said what we had could be no more.
So I never had the chance to say those three words,
but it was for the best because I'm finally happy;
I'm free as a bird.
