Life On A Ship Poem by Sebastian Seal

Life On A Ship

Once upon a time I was a ship's mascot,
I was best of friends with the skipper.
Then one day he trod on my flipper,
So I bit him ten times on the trot.

The boatswain dragged me off the deck.
He threw me in the brig.
I laughed at him and danced a jig,
So he grabbed me by the neck.

The captain caught rabies and quickly died.
His ghost came back from Davy Jones,
He wanted to know who gnawed his bones.
I pointed to the boatswain and lied.

The Captain asked for an apology,
My refusal made things worse.
He threatened me with a dreadful curse,
So I showed him my escapology.

I dived into the sea to escape assault,
Faster than anyone could react,
Maybe I did perhaps over-act,
With a triple-axle and somersault.

From mascot I resigned my post,
I sped off home over the sea.
But to take my place I left my flea,
Who now bites the captain's ghost.
