Life Is Still Life Poem by Shalom Freedman

Life Is Still Life

LIFE IS STILL LIFE

I am old
But I still want to live
Perhaps I'll go to the sea again
And forget myself bouncing against the waves
Perhaps I'll just go out into the night
And walk and walk
Until happiness goes all through me
Perhaps I'll get a hold of some old friend
And sit and remember and laugh and cry
Perhaps I'll just enjoy doing some simple thing
Drinking eating
Anything
I want to live
I do not just want to complain about being old
And endlessly regret how sad and bad all is
I should tell myself to be a bit freer with it all
And just enjoy
Life is still life
Even if half the things you once loved to do
Are beyond you
I am old
I still want to live
Writing this
I am happy now too
I am living
Aren't I?
