Life Is Ok Poem by Katie Pierce

Life Is Ok

Rating: 4.0

Sometimes things can make you sad
Sometimes things just get too bad

Sometimes life hands you lemons...
And you just can't make lemonade...
They are too sour, you have no sugar
So the lemons get buried
Deep deep down in the soil of your heart
You plant them there just like the seeds of your hopes and dreams
That you planted long ago
But nothing will grow from these lemons.
They will sit there
Lumps just below the surface of your heart-garden
Blocking the seeds you planted before
From making their way up to the light
More and more lemons will accumulate
They will fill your heart's fertile earth like garbage filling a landfill
And pretty soon your heart will be full
Full of hard, bulky, useless, lifeless lemons

But maybe, just maybe then
You get some sugar
Just enough
To turn a few of your lemons into lemonade
Then some more
And slowly, lemon by excruciatingly sour lemon,
Your heart, and your life, becomes balanced again
And those seeds...
Those seeds finally sprout
Small and green and delicate...

So when you can't take one more day
Remember, life can be ok
