Liberty and Justice For All
Summer afternoon
in Modesto
tramps piss in
a parking lot
in broad daylight
by Bank of America,
no shame to
their game.
There in
alleyways
they scavenge in
garbage bins
for morsels before
maggots do.
Tattered spirits
draped in rags
scrape along
sidewalks shared
with solemn stiffs
in grey suits and
shiny shoes.
