Let Us Hope

The one who stoked his day,
Why he went to war
And expectation of respect:
Let us hope these three
Respect these three:
Goodnight kiss given to another,
Pity
And final word on lips,
'Lover' or 'Mother'.

So many dying young men cried for their mums, perhaps true of all wars. A fine write of succinct and restrained expression in concentrated and fortified language.
