Let Me Know You Are Mine Poem by Bartholomew Arkoh Boamah Sarbah

Let Me Know You Are Mine

Smile to me, my love
Smile till your lips wreathe
to reveal the canines of your teeth
Laugh all you can at my joke
Though it resembles a boring croak;
Let me know you are mine

Come sit by me, my love
Sit by me when no one is near
And hold me when everyone is here
Guide me away from the pit
Though I may have a candle lit;
Just let me know you are mine

Tell me your desires
Though you feel I might not atone
And let me tell you in a gentle tone;
how I would glow my Angel's grace
because I never wish for you a wrinkled face;
Let me know you are mine

Let me sing of your love when you are with me
And let me chant of your beauty into your ears
Let me run my fingers through your hairs
And let me smear cream onto your body grain
So your shoulders will not sprain;
Just let me know you are mine

Let your voice be soothing in my ears
So I will not grow weary of you in days
And each separation will remind me of your gaze
It is your time I need
And the devotion of your love, I plead;
Let me know you are mine

I walk with my head up because they eye your elegance
But jealousy makes my heart ache
When the predators' eyes rake
and rest on you in their pair
Though I know you would not concur;
Just let me know you are mine
