Learning How To Adapt Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Learning How To Adapt

Walking down dusty trails of the past, looking at landscapes
seen as a child when first coming to Arizona from New Jersey
in 1961.

Not wanting to be here in the beginning, crying three months
straight, missing Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins so
very much.

Learning how to adapt with a totally broken heart being very
difficult, not expecting to ever be alright with this change
without my close family around me.

Yet, somehow time brought a light into this life and I learn-
ed how to survive by writing poetry, composing music and paint-
int portraits from memory, gifts that will always be here to
use no matter what I have to go through.
