Laws Poem by Ridge Dillard

Laws

Sweet scents are all that escape America

Daises and roses fill the air

With an aroma that doesn’t match the despair

Felt inside the bowels of the empire

Ain’t democracy a joke

When kings and queens still bestow and revoke

Our rights, and tell us our ways are wrong

It’s okay to kill a black kid but don’t hit a bong

It’s okay to exploit the worlds riches

Bit don’t live your life in any type of way

Establishment doesn’t deem right

Whats the difference between a robber baron

And a robber with bare pockets?

Probably the color of his skin

Plus all the exclusive clubs the robber baron is in

What’s the difference between the warden and the inmate?

In truth a clean slate just means you haven’t been caught

And the loyalty of a man marked for death

Can rarely be bought
