Lace Doilly Tablecloths In Winter Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Lace Doilly Tablecloths In Winter

Lace Doilly Tablecloths

The fairies fluttered over
The land so cold and bright.
The lace doilly tablecloths
Spread under day and night.

The icicles delicately
Threaded since they were their needles.
The white of the snowy expanse
Needn't have been brighter.

The icicles were white ice needles
And the snow flakes sewn together
Into bright tablecloths over
The landscape preparing for Christmas dinner.

The fairies into the hundreds
Now feasted
With Christmas food
And the lace doily tablecloths kept so clean.
