Knives Poem by Ellen Rose Guilaran

Knives

You've thrown knives and I've thrown swords
You were never here, but something died
inside of me: a baby
Actions speak louder than words
So tell me, did I wanted a life you?
Maybe

You've always wanted the best for me
We got lost in transformation; stubbornness played too
It can't always get right, dear love
The curtain closes and there is little to do

I've always got what I want, they said
But it's because I'm oblivious to the important
Extra stuff of fortune I can't let go
Darling, it provided me comfort all along

First mistake was the first key to Armageddon
Each pitfalls of grace, you keep count on
We can't move past each previous wars
Not only distance, but our growth fell each passing day

Why didn't we give up the first try?
Why did you discard me like that?
Now you leave me, finally, and
I was ready. To give up a life of familiarity
to dive into blue, pristine, yet deep waters
with you

How can you let me die like this?
