It Was No Accident Poem by Kevin Cox

It Was No Accident

It was no accident
That today we met
No, chance's hand
Has not been here

So long a time
Our paths have
Brought us here.

You are a mystery
As I am to you.

So, tell me
New friend
Of what has
Brought you
Here

Share with me
Your burden—
That which
Troubles you.

Or give to me
A full cup
Of your joy.
For we're
New friends

I let you
In my heart.
And you to me
Have arms
That open wide

Where once
A single path
I trod.
Now two do walk
To whatever

Lies ahead
Each stronger
Now
Each day
We find
A new thing
Of the other
No longer
Fear
Will find
A place to
Dwell

Love grows
Within
As together
We grow
Old

And then
One day
One's grip
Will be
No longer
Felt

But even then
Our friendship
Will carry on
For we believe
In Him
The Truest
Friend

With Him
One day there
On High
We three
Will walk
Forever
Truest friends
