In My Growing Up Days Poem by Conley Murray

In My Growing Up Days

When I was growing up, we did not have the high tech stuff we have
today,
we did everything the good old fashion way.

In our schools we had prayer every morning to start our study day,
and that helped us to learn about God's Holy Way.

In doing arithmetic we did not have calculators to click,
but a pencil and paper did the trick.

When the school day was over, we went home and did our home work
for the next day,
then we had our night time prayer before we hit the hay.

Our parents watched over us all during the night,
to make sure we were alright.

During the summer we used mules to plow the fields and mow the hay,
when the day was over we had our meal time prayer, and thanked God for
the food we had that day.

On Sunday we went to church,
and listen to what the preacher had to say,
that helped us to keep the old devil from leading us his evil way.

IF PEOPLE WOULD GET BACK TO MOST OF THE OLD FASHION WAYS,
AND HAVE A TIME OF PRAYER EVERYDAY.
GOD WOULD BLESS THEM IN VERY MIGHTY WAY.

I grew up during those times, too. I remember having prayer every day in school, at least up through 5th grade. Very nice poem. Thanks for the memories!
