Just One Drink Poem by Conley Murray

Just One Drink

Before you drive and drink,
please take some time to think.

You could cause your family a lot of grief and shame,
and you would be the only one to blame.

You could cause a vehicle to over turn,
and everyone inside to burn.

You could go to prison for a very long time,
because you committed a horrible crime.

So before you drive and drink,
take some time to think.
Is it worth just one drink?

Bars and cars... Dangerous combination. I've had friends and family acutely affected by this topic. Your poem poses the question: is it really worth it? The answer obviously is no. And we are all aware of it. Somehow it's still not evidence enough to stop people from doing it. Good write, meaningful content.

Mike I really appreciate your comment on my poem. Years ago I drink a lot and drove, If I had seen a poem like the one I wrote I think I would have had second thoughts before I drink and drove. My hope is this poem will make some people stop and think before they drink and drive
