In Days Of Childhood Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

In Days Of Childhood

Rating: 5.0

Days of childhood were good and delightful
Life inspired, enhanced with family love
Friends, schoolmates, kind-hearted neighbours
Such rich experiences I would relive again.
Living in a street with doors unlocked
Discoveries, adventures, joy of being a child
Now, only memories remain captivating the heart
Parents and brother sitting eating at table
Mother serving dinner, father telling stories.
I see the smiling faces of childhood friends
Swirling hazy mist stealing the images away.
Old age holds me prisoner as I step towards my end
Grieving for those lost golden days of youth
When all was splendid, rich with love and joy.
