In A Cow-Shed I Used To Live Under The Bel Tree Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

In A Cow-Shed I Used To Live Under The Bel Tree

What to say about poverty,
Hunger of the belly,
Mismanagement and pagletgiri?
We had a very hard life indeed,
Under the bel tree branching over
I used to read on a wooden cot,
Used to sleep during winter without a quilt
Placing it the straw under the bed sheet,
In the rains used to stand with the bed sheets,
The pillow and the wrapper
Fearing the bolts and lightening
When it used to thunder and rain drop used to leak in
Taking the name of God,
Had been money-less almost,
None had been to support,
Even had to live without medicines,
Had to milk cows and buffaloes,
But as human beings what did we from
Lands and dairy farm?
We just kept serving people.
