Immortality Poem by Eric Bult

Immortality

No longer are we told by scientists
That life cannot exist elsewhere but here.
Indeed so wrong were they that I insist
Upon the contrary; why should we fear
That our existence does but emphasise
The probability that here and there
The myriad galaxies may well comprise
A host of planets far advanced, and where
The spirits of those bodies, formerly
As humans, spent their lives in seeming grace,
Proceed with hope and joy inexorably
Toward their final holy interface.

I think our spirits are immortal too;
Within this universe we are but few.
