Immortal Flower Poem by adrienne sharpe

Immortal Flower

embedded in the belly of the beast
sowed in petrified devastation
left to thrive in brambles of genocide
to flourish in storms of mayhem
Star of Bethlehem in this slum
my bulb derived from holocaust ruination
my stem concealing a thousand words of hope
i prosper against odds of anguishin'
nutriment is tainted waters
so ill feed off my revelations
monsoons attempt to drown me out
only washing away my pain and tribulations
no break of dawn in this jungle
so i adapt to the darkness of realization
beat down by bitterness of weeping rain
my delicate branches will strengthen
i will not mummify like the others
sacrificed in damnation
wilted petals never fully bloomed
lacking their full maturation
yet this is still Gods garden
so my roots must keep progressin'
my will to live remains immortal
immortal flower... Star of Bethlehem
