If I Were To Marry You Poem by Randy McClave

If I Were To Marry You

If it were only for sex I would marry you
No other woman does what you will do,
I'd ask you to be my wife without thought or a clue
Then without hesitation, it would be only us two.

I won't marry you for love or for companionship
Because, you're the first one to abandon a ship,
Down that isle with you I won't take that trip
Unto faithfulness, you will quickly lose the grip.
I will marry for love, honesty and complete devotion
And also for companionship and a spiritual emotion,
Not for rumors and lies and jealous commotion
And also for the, "I do", forever notion.
The woman that I marry will be my treasure
And I alone would be granted her pleasure,
It would be her and I enjoying each other at our own leisure
My happiness and contentment only God could measure.
My wife and I would then grow old together
Not once would my lips ever announce a never,
Never would I want our marriage to sever
My love and my respect for her would last forever.

That is why I would never want you at my side
With truth, honesty and devotion you will always backslide,
All that you truly care for is manipulating and the next ride
I'd marry you for sex, but for a wife, you will never be my bride.
