if i were beautiful
i would tell you
what you mean to me
if i were slender and lush
and charming to your eyes
no fear would come between us
and perhaps our glances would meet
brown to blue
but such is the nature of sin
that it relies on the intervention
of that which we call divine
and precious
i know where you are
when i see your shadow pass
silently behind me
scented softly, a rush of
warm movement
you have not seen my sharp glance
but perhaps you would
if i were beautiful
and my love could
move you.
