I Know Poem by Katrina Harms

I Know

i know
when the wind hits me this way
when i enter that place
where your shadow might touch—
there is a love unborn,
to be obliged to your flesh
its alien beauty
slashes me at the seams,
what cruel and constrictive
stings might prick me,
you are there
and our silhouettes are bound
joint blood, my brother
I’ll live in you
and swallow your sweet venom
because you delight me
because you bait me
Unwillingly
and everyone pursues you
self-righteous hunters
who crave your blood
your boyish smile. but
i know
we won’t be parted until
you reap me, rip me
and i die
of your
love.
