In Memoriam Poem by Katrina Harms

In Memoriam

he says
no need
no need to cry
it’s just a song, just a photo
just a person who looks like one
long gone
no need to weep
for that irreperessable longing
he doesn’t know
that little place in my heart
where
dark shadows collect
in those smoke filled walls
those deep empty chambers
half sagging half smouldering
but altogether my own

he says
no need
no need to wrench your guts
as you look back on times gone
but he doesn’t see
how rich and bitter tasting
sour memories soft and remaining
sleep in your stomach
never wavering
never truly fading
just changing with the seasons
and the light
but are always there
to make me

weep
