If I Had A Rifle Poem by Randy McClave

If I Had A Rifle

If I had a rifle it I would bust
Then in the corner it would just rust,
And there it would forever stay
Until my dying day.
While in the corner it's not killing
While in the corner my soul would be healing,
Not one stranger met or burglar ever at my door
I'm not in a constant war.
I am not scared or afraid of creaks at night
And I never meet any stranger with terror and fright,
And I am not terrified to walk outside
Without a gun in my hand or strapped at my side.
No person will I ever maim or kill
Either by accident or for the thrill,
No weapon do I need to prove that I'm a protector or a man
Without any weapon I easily can.
Now I think that if Eve had left that Apple alone
Then from her sin we would not had heard her moan,
But, of course the Devil whispered in her ear
So, she believed what she wanted to hear.
The Devil had whispered into my ear as well
He wanted to lead me to sin and then straight to hell,
But, from evil and hatred and being a bully I did repent
On any rifle's trigger, will never be my fingerprint.
