If I Poem by Mark Heathcote

If I

If I
Try to kiss you
Would you pout or refrain
Make this heart chug a locomotive-
Steam train

Steam train
Hot to sizzling,
Would your whole breast expand?
Likewise with mine to bursting point
If I

If I
Try to kiss you
Full-on without regret
Would you linger - cue my signal
And kiss

And kiss
As if it were
One of many, more to come
Like-it-was the last kiss on earth.
If I...?
