I Would Give You Poem by Randy McClave

I Would Give You

I would give you my shoes and my socks
So, barefooted you wouldn't walk on rocks,
That suffering and pain I wouldn't care to take
So, that walk you could comfortably make.

I would give my last drink to quench your thirst
Even though it was not you first,
And if I ever saw your lips or your tongue dry
To wet them, I would give you the tears that I would cry.

I would give you my very last morsel of food
If upon it with your hungry eyes you had hungrily viewed,
And if I ever thought that you had nothing to eat
I would starve, so you could have your treat.

I would give you the very shirt off of my back
So, that you could be warm in any pack,
And I would proudly smile with every frozen breath
Even if it meant for me to freeze to death.

I would give you all that I had ever owned or had
So, that you would never feel unwanted or sad,
I would rather hear you laugh and to see you smile
While looking over a worthless pile.

If I ever got very sick or ill
I would tell you to hold on for yourself my very last pill,
If I knew that pain and suffering and my death was coming due
I would then plead with the Angels to please watch over you.
