I Will Rise Poem by Carmella Stajanca

This time around I will rise above all the criticism. I will rise above all the words they speak because now it only sounds like mumble. I will no longer lay at their feet and be so humble. The end has come for the pain that once existed. Its being tossed out of my system. For me to walk away from it all today saying my final goodbye because i'm through letting it run my life. I refuse to be another statistic. I'd rather be like an outcast who noone wants in their clique. They've thrown me around, smacked me up, and kicked me down. But enough is enough this time i'm standing on a higher ground. Soon my face will shine brighter than any star. I'm done giving them satisfaction by not getting very far. My past nightmares are being locked behind a closed door. I'm fighting back to prove I can achieve more. I will rise higher than any one of you have ever known. I'll be so high above that to me the sky will look low. All of your faces will no longer show. They'll combine into a blur. Nothing but a smudge to me that i'll simply wipe so I can see more clearly. I will rise to realize that I can use my weakness as a strength.
